Reading Comprehension

Project READ training opportunities included:

  • Reading Comprehension: a whole school approach (EYFS/ KS1 and KS2)
  • School Improvement Reading Programme: Improving Comprehension in KS2

These courses were designed to equip teachers with subject knowledge, skills and practical approaches to teach reading comprehension effectively throughout school, drawing on research-informed practice. An additional course, Inference Training: The Intervention, enabled schools to deliver a structured intervention for KS2 pupils who have age-appropriate decoding skills but who are struggling with reading comprehension.
